THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) headed by Major General Vicente D. Danao Jr. is stepping-up its effort to help the government finally put an end to local communist armed conflict by bridging full partnership with poor barangays in Metro Manila known to be being taken advantage of by leftist organizers, the Journal Group learned yesterday.

This week, the NCRPO concluded its 7-Day Retooled Community Support Program to Counter White Area Operations in which NCRPO officers and men underwent training to further help bridge the gap between the government and poor communities in the metropolis which were previously cleared of influence by the New People’s Army and other CPP/NPA/NDF front organizations.

Danao said this is part of their “whole-of-nation-approach” to help the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.

PNP Director for Police-Community Relations, Major Gen. Bartolome R. Bustamante and NCRPO Deputy Regional Director for Administration, Brigadier Gen. Benjamin C. Acorda Jr. led the event.

In his message, Bustamante congratulated the participants for completing the said training as he expressed confidence that the participants would play a big role in promoting the different programs of the government.

“I am very confident that with your class and those who graduated earlier, I know that you can have a better engagement with our communities. You underwent this training because you have a mission to perform. Isang misyon na dapat nating iparating, iparamdam sa ating mga kababayan ang pagmamahal at malasakit ng ating bansa ng ating gobyerno sa ating mga kababayan, especially to those who have less right, the very vulnerable to the deceit and deception of our enemies,” Bustamante said.

Danao stressed that the NCRPO and the Joint Task Force-NCR will not stop to develop the competency of their personnel to ensure sustainability of their initiatives.

The official guaranteed that the problem on insurgency once addressed will no longer recur due to the same reason due to poverty and alleged lack of government support.

“It is high time that we put an end to this and stress to all that the government is more than willing to support them and work with them towards a safer and more progressive community for all,” the NCRPO director said.

The participants were encouraged to maximize the learnings they gained during their training to develop stronger partnership with the community and effectively communicate with the public the various government programs to help them.
