NCRPO boasts of new hi-tech police clearance system

A STATE-OF-THE-ART National Police Clearance System (NPCS) being used by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has hit two birds in one stone: First, it gives the public a more efficient and faster way to get their clearance amid the “new normal”. Second, it has been responsible for arresting dozens of people with pending criminal cases as soon as they try to seek police clearance in the metropolis.

According to NCRPO director, Major General Vicente D. Danao Jr., the NPCS crosses out the possibility that a person with a criminal record in one place will be able to obtain a police clearance from another area which is an option for them in the traditional manner of obtaining police clearances.

Already inter-connected with all police regional offices nationwide, the NPCS can easily flash the alarm on a person wanted for a criminal offense in different parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao but will try to seek a police clearance in Metro Manila or vice-versa.

The other day, a group of selected NCRPO personnel finished their NCPS User’s Training under the supervision of the PNP Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM) headed by Maj. Gen. Omega Jireh D. Fidel at the NCRPO headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City.

“The public can now enjoy a more efficient and fast transaction of their police clearance applications with the rollout of the NPCS in Metro Manila and the rest of the country. This initiative is actually a great leap towards better police service especially at this time of [the] pandemic,” said Maj Gen. Danao.

The NCRPO chief said that personnel from the Manila, Quezon City, Eastern, Southern, and Northern Police Districts underwent the NCPS user’s training to ensure the sustainability and continuous improvement of the program.

He also thanked Fidel for seeing to it that NCRPO personnel will be trained to maximize the use of the online system. The latest batch of NCRPO men who completed the course was presented during a program attended by Maj. Gen. Danao and DIDM Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. John G. Guyguyon.

“I congratulate the graduates of this course for taking the challenge in improving their skills and capabilities to sustain the institutionalization of this initiative. I expect nothing less but the best from you in the performance of your functions as NPCS verifiers, clearance personnel, and help desk personnel,” said Maj. Gen. Danao.
