The city government of Navotas has prepared a series of activities to commemorate its 118th founding anniversary on January 16.

The Navotas Day celebration with the theme, “Kapag Tulong-Tulong, Angat ALL, Saya ALL,” will kick off its festivities with Misa ng Pasasalamat and Pistang Kristyano today, January 8.

Kalye Fiesta, a banchetto-style night market, will likewise open at the Navotas Citywalk and Amphitheater.

On January 10, Navotas will hold the Araw ng Mangingisda to honor the city’s fisherfolk.

The event will feature competitions on boat racing and net mending, as well as the awarding of the Top 10 Most Outstanding Fisherfolk.

This year will also witness the comeback of the street dancing competition, dubbed as Pangisdaan Festival.

Junior and senior students of six public high schools in Navotas will showcase their dancing prowess and creative chops reflecting the rich history and culture of the city.

Navotas will also give recognition to the Top 20 Taxpayers in Business and Realty on January 14.

“Another fruitful year of overcoming challenges has come and gone. Through this celebration, we express our gratefulness for the guidance and blessings that we received from the Almighty for the past years,” Mayor John Rey Tiangco said.

“The milestones we have achieved in our city are also made possible with the support and cooperation of Navoteños,” he added.

Also included in the lineup of activities are Zumba and Health Caravan for Lolo and Lola, Navotas Funbikers Get-Together Ride, Invitational Judo Tournament, Pakita Mo Pet Mo! (Dog Edition), and groundbreaking of the soon-to-rise Kaunlaran Super Health Center.

Other happenings within the week are financial literacy seminar, simultaneous clean-up activity and mega job fair.

The grand parade will also make its return this year on January 16, featuring popular artists.

To wrap up the celebration, the city government will distribute packs of rice to residents from January 17 to 22.
