AKSYON Demokratiko Presidential bet Isko Moreno said he is not in favor of doing away with facemasks unless and until designated health authorities say so.

In an interview at the sidelines of his campaign sorties in Cainta, Rizal, the Manila mayor said that he will only follow fact-based decisions coming from health experts and specialists and most importantly, of the Department of Health (DOH).

“Kapag sinabi ng mga siyentipiko na alisin na ang facemask, ng DOH or doctors na pwede na, makikinig ako,” Moreno said.

He also disclosed that he voted for the de-escalation of Metro Manila to Alert Level 1 and that he made his stand known to the Metro Manila Council in advance before he went to Mindanao for his campaign sorties.

“In the case of Manila, kami po ay handa. Nandiyan ang aming mga kumpletong pasilidad, salamat kay Doc Willie at ‘yung mga inadvise niyang mga gamot laban sa COVID ay tangan-tangan na ng Manila City government, mataas ang aming oxygen reserve at ang aming mga doctor ay malusog,” said Moreno.
