Lea Salonga, out sa The Voice Kids

Formerly known as Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the world-acclaimed choir held this year’s Christmas concerts at the Temple Square in Salt Lake City in Utah. The venue has a 21,000 seating capacity; but this year’s performances were limited due to the ongoing constructions in and around the facility. The Grammy and Emmy Award-winning choir is under the baton of Marc Wilberg as its music director.

The Broadway star wowed the audiences with her own renditions of Christmas jingles such as “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “O Holy Night” and the Broadway classic “The Story Goes On” from the musical “Baby.” Hearing her singing the said Filipino Christmas song gives pride to every Filipino across the globe. Pahayag nga niya, “It’s quite overwhelming. … It’s a lot of seats and it’s not just one level but a few.”

Lea has catapulted to global fame with her Tony Award-winning role in “Miss Saigon” and acknowledged as a Disney legend being the only Asian to have portrayed a major Disney princess. Just asking…

Topbilled by veteran actors Noel Trinidad and Liza Lorena, the film focuses on an elderly couple and their children played by Nonie Buencamino, Mylene Dizon, Nikki Valdez and JC Santos. It’s what a typical Filipino family goes through everyday.

Kudos to the tandem of Nuel Naval (director) and Mel Mendoza-Del Rosario (screenwriter) for effectively and realistically translating Filipino family matters to the big screen.

As gym mate sa Slimmers’ World-SM North EDSA, I personally know Direk Nuel.

His last tearjerker movie was the Aga Muhlach-starrer “Miracle in Cell No. 7.” Will Direk Nuel bring home this year’s MMFF Best Director trophy? Just asking…
