WINNING six championships in different commercial and collegiate leagues this year may already be enough, but La Consolacion College-Manila coach Kenyon Chee is looking to add some more.

Chee, who earned his spurs by leading Manila Patriotic School and other schools in various Filipino-Chinese leagues, hopes to lead the Blue Royals back to respectability in collegiate basketball.

“We’re trying to instill a new system that hopefully, will bring back the winning tradition of the team, said Chee, who once played for UNO High under multi-titled coach Joe Lipa.

“Fortunately, I have a good coaching staff composed of assistant coaches Elmer Latonio, Jerry Gonzales, Robert de la Rosa and Dodong Postanes, to support me in achieving my goals for the team,” added Chee, who also serves as assistant coach of Raymond Valenzona for the Letran Squires in the NCAA.

As a coach of La Consolacion, Chee piloted the team to the titles in the BBM 21-under, MILCU 21-under, QCAA 20-above, City Hoops 19-under. United Basketball Lwague 19-under and QCAA 18-under tournaments.

“As a coach, you always want to win. I will be very happy if I can add a few more titles this year. If not, we’ll try again next year,” added Chee, who started calling the shots for the junior team of La Consolacion as early as 2016.

La Consolacion is also regularly competing in Inter-Scholastics Athletic Association (ISAA), Fr. Martin’s Cup, Universities and Colleges Basketball League, MMBL, City Hoops, BBL, MILCU and QCAA.
