Holt lifts Dyip past Batang Pier

STEPHEN Holt delivered the game-winner as Terrafirma Dyip escaped with a 110-108 victory over Northport Batang Pier in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila.

Holt finished with 22 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field on top of 12 rebounds, five assists and four steals in 38 minutes of action.

Juami Tiongson added 21 points and seven assists while Louie Sangalang contributed 19 points and five rebounds for the Johnedel Cardel-mentored Terrafirma, which improved to 5-5 win-loss record.

Javier Gomez De Liano and Isaac Go chipped in 14 and 10 points, respectively.

Arvin Tolentino led the scoring for NorthPort with 25 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor and seven rebounds in 38 minutes of action.

Cade Flores added 18 points and five rebounds while William Navaro contributed with 17 points and six rebounds for coach Bonnie Tan, Allyn Bulanadi chipped in with 14 points as the Batang Pier dropped to 4-6.

Terrafirma coach Johnedel Cardel was visibly happy that the Dyip.finally snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Batang Pier.

“Effort lang talaga ng mga players. They all want to improve naman ‘yung wins namin. Lagi na lang four. But now we have a big chance at getting to the quarterfinals, but it’s hard because Magnolia last game namin,” said Cardel.

“Maybe this win will get us to the quarterfinals. Bahala na kasi nga… depende sa other teams, kung sino makaka-tie namin, Hopefully makapasok pa rin kami.”
