MAGNOLIA Chicken Timplados outlasted Terrafirma, 108-100, in another crucial battle to boost their chances of finishing in the upper half of the standings in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Philsports Arena.

Ian Sangalang, Mark Barroca and Paul Lee combined for 61 points to power the Hotshots to their sixth win in 10 matches in the elimination round.

Sangalang finished with 23 points, eight rebounds and four assists in nearly 39 minutes, while Barroca added 21 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Hotshots of coach Chito Victolero.

Lee had 17 points on 5-of-6 shooting, five rebounds and seven assists.

Veteran Rafi Reavis, who will soon turn 47, also atepped up for Magnolia with 10 points and 13 boards for his first double-double since Game 3 of the 2019 edition of the same tournament

“We’re a veteran team, we have a bunch of guys na experienced players. It just so happened we had a bad game, ‘yung last game namin,” said Victolero, whose team is asured of a top six spot regardlwaa of the result of its last elims against TNT on Sunday.

“We just tried to go back to practice and move forward because sabi ko nga sa preparations namin, ‘yung destiny namin kontrolado pa rin namin,” added Victolero.

“We just need to bounce back hard, play hard and have that playoff mentality. So iyon, lumabas naman ‘yung laro ngayon and ito namang mga players, alam nila kung gaano ka-importante laro na ito.”

Stephen Holt carried the fight for Terrafirma, finishing with 32 points and eight assists.

Juami Tiongson added 14 points, followed by Isaac Go with a double double of 13 points and 20 rebounds and Javier Gomez de Liano with 13 points.

Terrafirma closed out with a 5-6 record.
