A JOBLESS man who usually joined his friend in drinking sprees was fished out in Malabon City.

Malabon Police chief P/Col. Albert Barot said the body of Ernesto Francisco, Jr., 29, of 27 Bernales II, Brgy. Baritan was found floating along Megadike Riverbank in Brgy. Dampalit at about 7 a.m. Monday by Brgy. Executive-Officer (Ex-O) Fernando Ramos, 42, of Barangay Dampalit.

Homicide investigators P/SSgt. Mardelio Osting and P/SSgt. Diego Ngippol said elements of the Malabon Police Sub-Station 7, together with Malabon Rescue Team responded to the area and retrieved the body of Francisco.

The victim’s father Ernesto Sr. told police that his son frequently engaged in a drinking spree with his friend and usually returned home late at night.

He was last seen alive by his father last Saturday, August 28, 2021, when he left their house at around 4 p.m. without asking permission and failed to go home until his body was discovered Monday morning.

Col. Barot said the body of the victim was brought to the Northern Police District (NPD) Crime Laboratory for autopsy examination after elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) discovered bruises on his head and body.

Although initial findings showed the victim died of drowning, investigators will conduct further investigation pending the result of autopsy examination to determine if foul play has been committed.
