PNP-IG agents account for PH’s 186 crime suspects

PNPA TOTAL of 186 crime suspects, 17 of them subject of nearly P3.5 million reward offered by the Departments of Interior and Local Government and National Defense, have been accounted for by the Philippine National Police Intelligence Group (PNP-IG) since April 1, 2024, the Journal Group learned.

According to PNP-IG director Colonel Edwin Portento, the arrests were made amid the instructions of PNP chief, General Rommel Francisco Marbil to serve 70 percent of warrants of arrest against wanted individuals.

As a result, from April 1 to last May 12 alone, PNP-IG operatives arrested the 186 wanted persons as a result of intelligence-driven operations.

Three of those arrested included Mary Jane Quirante Berami, alias Commander Jinky, a member of the New People’s Army who has a P1.2 million bounty on her head.

Berami was arrested last April 1 in Purok 9, Brgy. Poblacion in Alabel, Sarangani.

The suspect was accused of killing a certain Viente Villarosa in Purok 10, Brgy. Spring in Alabel on August 16, 2002.

She was described as a former medical staff of the dismantled NPA Guerrilla Front 71 operating in the boundaries of Sarangani and Davao Occidental from 1989 to 2006.

A 2nd arrested, alias Ed Eyes, is wanted for three counts of rape and four counts of lascivious conduct in Abuyog, Leyte.

The 3rd alleged NPA member, Rolando Cambarihan, a suspected NPA vice commanding officer, was arrested by PNP-IG officers in Brgy. Salvacion in Trento, Agusan del Sur last April 29.

The accused is wanted for five counts of murder and violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013.

The suspected vice commanding officer of the NPA Guerilla Front 2 under the CPP/NPA’s Southern Mindanao Regional Committee from 2014 to 2017 is wanted for the killing of one Reden Gamas on January 4, 2017; a certain Rudy Poliño in Purok Pag-ibig in Mankilam, Tagum City on March 4, 2017; and the murder of one Joel Tupiasan in Puro 4E in Brgy. Apokon in Tagum City on March 8, 2017;

He is also suspected in the killing of one PJ Lacso in Purok Tipa in Sitio Tinago, Brgy. East in Tagum City on April 21, 2017; and the murder of barangay kagawad Richard Welborn in Visayan Village in Tagum City in Davao del Norte on July 3, 2017.

The PNP-IG director said that the DILG offered a P170,000 reward for the arrest of the accused.
