MANILA Mayor and Aksyon Demokratiko presidential bet Isko Moreno has called on the public to spare him a peso to text at least one other person to support his candidacy if they want real change to happen in the country.

“Kung wala naman kayong piso, me public wifi pwede din naman duon,” Moreno said as he addressed huge crowds composed of students and then later, Calamba City Hall employees.

He was joined by Mayor Mel Gecolea and Mayor Justin Marc Chipeco of Cabuyao and Calamba, respectively, and both introduced him during the short program at the Pamantasan ng Cabuyao and the Calamba City Hall.

In his speech, Moreno said since he does not come from a political dynasty or a rich clan, he is merely banking on the support of the people.

“Mga bigwigs ang kalaban ko kaya sana ay suportahan ninyo ako kung gusto ninyo ng tunay na pagbabago,” Moreno said.

He cited that when he ran for mayor in 2019, he was also facing political giants and that a group of moneyed individuals even ganged up on him but that it was the people of Manila that really brought him to the mayorship.

Moreno also cited an adage made popular by physicist Albert Einstein: “Don’t expect different results tomorrow if what you did today is the same as what you did yesterday.”

The presidential aspirant said that just like most Filipinos, he has also gotten tired of political feuding between certain families and of politics being handed down from one generation to another, since such system had not brought any progress to the country.

Moreno said he would not have gunned for the presidency since his life would have been easier if he just sought reelection as Manila mayor.

However, Moreno said he would want to institute real changes in the country that would truly address the needs and concerns of the ordinary masses.
