THE Batangas Police Provincial Office headed by Col. Glicerio Cansilao on Friday launched “Isang Daan Para sa Dagat” (ISDAGAT) in Matabungkay, Lian, Batangas.

Cansilao said ISDAGAT aims to save the seas and the maritime resources.

Everybody was warmly-welcomed by Lt. Col. Ruel Lito Fronda, chief of the Provincial Community Affairs, and Development Unit of the Batangas Police Provincial Office welcomed the guests and participants in the activity.

Roberto Antonio “Ronin” Leviste and Aileen Montalbo, president of the Soroptomist International Kabatangueña, delivered inspirational messages.

Dr. Ces Noble, who served as the keynote speaker, presented among participants a documentary film entitled: “The Philippine Seas” by Atom Araullo.

In Noble’s message, she expressed that by being aware of the current situation of the environment, particularly the Philippine seas, which are already at risk, they will be able to fulfill their role as leaders of ISDAGAT.

Composing ISDAGAT were John Rey Banglasan, founding president; Dr. Ces Noble, national adviser; Leticia Cruz, regional adviser; Evelyn Cansilao, provincial adviser, members of Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo, and other youth organizations.

]The mission is to organize at least 100 leaders and advocates per locality (barangay, city or town) that will uphold the integrity and sustainability of the Philippine seas and maritime resources for the current and future generations of Filipinos.

“Launching of ISDAGAT in Batangas is a very good program. The involvement of youth through KKDAT is a powerful effort so that they will become more aggressive to join in our mission to protect natural resources. The essence of this kind of program is indeed a confirmation that our environment is already at risk and we have to do something not just to prevent it from getting destroyed, but also taking up space for a gradual restoration,” Cansilao said.
