HVT for illegal drugs falls in Ilocos Sur
CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO, La Union – Police Region Office (PRO) 1’s aggressive stance against illegal drugs scored following the arrest of a “high-value individual” (HVI) in Barangay Ayusan Sur, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.
Police Brigadier General John Chua, PRO 1 regional director, confirmed the arrest of the drug suspect, listed in the “Top 10” regional priority target and a PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency) target list in a buy-bust operation.
Based on the report, Atalin was arrested through a joint anti-illegal drug operation conducted by the ISPDEU/PIU (led unit), personnel of Vigan CPS, 1st and 2nd Ilocos Sur PMFC, RPDEU1, RID, and RIU in coordination with PDEA-RO 1 at Bgy. Ayusan Sur, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur at about 4:25 a.m. on February 20, 2023.
The suspect was caught in the act of selling two plastic sachets of shabu to the PNP operative who acted as poseur-buyer.
Confiscated were the buy-bust money, six plastic sachets of shabu valued at P34,000, and a black Euro Sport motorcycle.
Meanwhile, Chua lauded the operatives for another successful anti-illegal operation and stressed PRO 1’s intensified anti-illegal drug campaign.
“Police Regional Office 1 maximizes its drug clearing operations and police operations to block the sources and demands of illegal drugs. This is aimed at attaining a drug-free Ilocos Region that will surely transpire into sustainable and progress,” he said.
