Hit and run accident kills 62-year-old mechanic
A 62-year-old rider was killed in a hit-and-run accident along C-3 Road Friday evening in Caloocan City.
Caloocan police chief P/Col. Samuel Mina said Felix Espinosa, auto mechanic and resident of 536 Int. Catmon, Malabon City, succumbed to severe head and body injuries while being rushed by responding Caloocan Rescue Team to Caloocan City Medical Center.
Investigation conducted by Caloocan police traffic investigator P/Cpl. Joemar Panigbatan showed that while the victim was driving a motorcycle with plate number ND-84926, he was sideswiped by a speeding truck along the westbound lane of C-3 Road near corner 7th Street, Bgy. 124 at around 6 p.m.
Due to the impact, Espinosa was thrown off the motorcycle and was run over by the killer truck driven by a still unidentified driver who immediately sped away towards unknown direction, leaving the bloodied victim on the pavement.
Mina has ordered the Station Traffic Enforcement Unit to conduct a follow-up operation for possible identification and arrest of the driver of the killer truck who escaped after the accident.
