Helper killed in MC vs truck

A 54-YEAR-OLD helper was killed, and a fellow construction worker was injured after the motorcycle they were riding accidentally collided with a ten-wheeler truck while traversing along the highway in Bgy. San Francisco, Mabini, Batangas Tuesday morning.

Mabini Municipal Police Station (MPS) Chief Capt. Vanessa Sayson identified the fatality as Gelarde Regla, and resident of Sta. Bernardita St., Biñan, and his injured companion Jaymar Anib, 22, single, construction worker, of Cabuyao, Laguna.

The suspect voluntarily submitted himself to the police officers, identified as Jerian Berja, 26, single, of Bgy. San Juan, Mabini, Batangas.

A cellphone call from a concerned citizen was received by personnel of Mabini MPS informing that there was a vehicular incident transpired at Bgy. San Francisco at 10: 1 a.m.

Case investigator P/Cpl. Bernie Mark Anthony L. Faderogao’s initial investigation showed at around 10:00 a.m. the victims have seen on board a Skygo motorcycle and traveling along the said highway.

Police said when the motorcycle was on the zigzag portion of the road, overtook and occupied the opposite lane, and collided with the oncoming ten-wheeler truck driven by Berja.

On the force of the impact of the collision, the two flew and landed on the concrete pavement bloodied.

The victims were brought to Mabini Community Hospital for medical treatment, but the attending physician pronounced Regla dead on arrival. By Jojo Cesar Magsombol
