‘Thieves’ van found
JAEN, Nueva Ecija – A metallic silver Toyota Avanza van that was allegedly used in a robbery in a nearby town was found abandoned inside a mango farm with its inside parts burned on Wednesday.
Town police head Major Romualdo S. Lopez said his men responded to a call from barangay officials in Bgy. Sapang recovered the said vehicle parked unattended in the street inside a mango farm at 10:30 a.m.
Upon inspection of the vehicle with license plates CCM-5242, Lopez said its doors were found unlocked, and the car’s inside parts were burned.
Police said the vehicle was allegedly earlier involved in a heist in Bgy. San Francisco, San Antonio.
Police here have sought the help of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Nueva Ecija Highway Patrol Group (HPG) in verifying the vehicle’s registration records. By Steve A. Gosuico
