ELEMENTS of the Northern Police District (NPD) arrested an alleged gunrunner in a buy-bust operation Tuesday afternoon in Caloocan City.

NPD District Special Operation Unit (DSOU) Head P/Lt. Col. Jay Dimaandal said Jeffrey Raymundo, 37, of Bgy. 12, Dagat-Dagatan, Caloocan City, was arrested following a tip from their informant about the suspect’s illegal selling of gun and ammunition.

At around 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, DSOU operatives led by P/Capt. Melito Pabon conducted a buy-bust operation along Libis Talisay, Bgy. 12, resulting in the suspect’s arrest after he handed a caliber 9mm Uzi to a police poseur buyer in exchange for P4,500 marked money.

Aside from the caliber 9mm Uzi, police also seized from the suspect eight pieces of 9mm ammunition, a 9mm magazine placed in a black sling bag, and the marked money consisting of one genuine P500 peso and eight P500 boodle money.

Dimaandal said they are now conducting an extensive background check against Raymundo to find out if he was also involved in other illegal activities, including peddling of drugs, or if he was involved in robbery incidents.

The suspect is now under the custody of the District Investigative and Detective Management Division (DIDMD) Custodial Facility pending the filing of a violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act. By Edd Reyes
