Hamon ni Speaker Romualdez sa mga opisyal, kasapi ng KBP

HINILING ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez sa mga opisyal at kasapi ng Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) na ipagpatuloy ang kanilang maigting na paglaban kontra fake news, misinformation, disinformation at malinformation na kumalakat sa social media, kabilang ang fake audio sa lumabas na video ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.

Ang hamon ni Speaker Romualdez ay bahagi ng kanyang mensahe sa pagdiriwang ng ika-51 anibersaryo ng KBP na may temang “Empowering People’s Voices and Aspirations” na ginanap sa Manila Golf Club Huwebes ng gabi.

Pinuri din ng pinuno ng Kamara ang limang dekadang paglilingkod ng KBP sa bansa.

“We recognize its indispensable role in our democracy – as a reliable source of truth and a facilitator of informed public discourse… Your role as custodians of truth is imperative in countering misinformation and upholding the public trust,” ani Speaker Romualdez, lider ng Kamara de Representantes na mayroong mahigit 300 kinatawan.

Naunang nilinaw ng Presidential Communications Office (PCO) na “fake” ang kumakalat na video na inaatasan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang Armed Forces of the Phi­lippines (AFP) na atakihin ang isang partikular na bansa.

Sa pagtitipon, nagbigay ng opening remarks si KBP Chairman Ruperto Nicdao Jr. na sinundan ng pagpapakilala ni KBP Vice Chairman Herman Basbaño kay Speaker Romualdez bilang guest speaker.

Ipinahayag naman ni KBP President Noel Galvez ang President’s message at nanguna sa ceremonial toast.

Binigyan-diin ni Speaker Romualdez na mas malaki ang hamon sa mga brodkaster kaugnay sa pangangalaga sa integridad ng institusyon sa panahong nagbabago ang media landscape dulot ng teknolohiya, mula sa tradisyonal tungo sa digital space kung saan mabilis ang pagkalat ng “fake news.”

“As you navigate these shifts – where liquid crystal displays have taken over cathode ray tubes, and digital content challenges traditional primetime – I urge you to remain steadfast,” ayon kay Speaker Romualdez.

Binanggit din ng lider mula sa Leyte ang nakasaad sa 1987 Constitution na kumikilala sa mahalagang tungkulin ng pamamahayag sa pagpapaunlad ng bansa, sa kahalagahan ng tungkulin ng mga brodkaster sa pagsusulong ng katapatan at malinaw na pagpapakalat ng impormasyon.

“I commend the KBP for maintaining rigorous standards of truthfulness and fairness. Your unwavering commitment to these values showcases the best of Filipino broadcasting and fortifies our democratic foundation,” ayon pa kay Speaker Romualdez.

“In this light, I appeal to the KBP to continue policing its own ranks with vigilance. It is essential to actively weed out those who compromise on the ethics of truthful reporting and to set an example that resonates not just within our shores but across the global stage,” dagdag pa ng mambabatas.

“Elevating your standards to match, or even surpass, the world’s best is a goal well within your reach and one that will significantly enhance the credibility and influence of Philippine broadcasting internationally,” ayon pa sa pinuno ng Kamara.

Tiniyak din ni Speaker Romualdez ang patuloy na suporta ng Mababang Kapulungan sa KBP sa kanilang kontribusyon sa pag-unlad at pagpapatag ng bansa.

“We are diligently working on legislative reforms to provide more flexibility in terms of investments and resources, aiming to boost the industry’s growth and international competitiveness,” ayon pa kay Speaker Romualdez.

“These reforms are crafted not to compromise the patriotic vision of our Constitution’s framers but to empower you with the modern tools and capital necessary for innovation and expansion,” saad pa nito.

Tiniyak din ni Speaker Romualdez ang pakikipagtulungan para sa “transparency” ng industriya at mapalawak ang saklaw ng operasyon nito, at mas madaling access sa mga mapagkakatiwalaang source.

“Additionally, we are focused on advancing legislation to protect and empower media practitioners, enabling you to perform your duties safely and without undue interference,” ani Speaker Romualdez.

“As we move forward, let us continue to champion the principles of professional integrity and excellence in broadcasting. Together, we will usher in a new era for Philippine media, reinforcing its role as a pillar of truth and a beacon of professionalism on the world stage,” dagdag pa ni Speaker Romualdez.
