POLICE the other day reported that a 15-year-old female student died after the motorcycle they were riding lost control and hit a steel fence while traversing along the highway in Tanauan City, Batangas.

Tanauan City Police Station investigators P/Cpls. Alexis Alain T. Mendoza and Julius Andrew D. Dionisio identified the fatality as Marian Glinogo.

The parents of the student and the other children were hurt, identified as Miguel Glinogo, 48, the father, vendor, and children identified as Maureen, a 6-year-old student; Marly, 20; and wife Melinda, 46, all residents of Bgy. Bagbag, Tanauan City.

The incident was reported from a telephone call from a concerned citizen received by desk officer PSMS James Laurel Vargas of Tanauan CPS informing that a vehicular accident occurred in Bgy. Bagumbayan, Tanauan City.

Initial investigations showed that before the incident, the Glinogo family was resting inside their house around 10:00 p.m. when Miguel’s wife, Melinda, felt chest tightness and could hardly breathe due to high blood pressure.

Miguel immediately drove the Rusi tricycle along with their children and made his way to the hospital but unfortunately, upon arriving at a curving portion of the road at Bgy. Bagumbayan, Miguel lost control of the motorcycle and accidentally crashed into a steel fence.

As a result, everyone sustained injuries in different parts of their bodies and were immediately rushed by the responding team of the Tanauan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) ambulance and brought to DMMC Hospital for immediate medical attention, but Marian was pronounced “dead on arrival” by the attending physician due to severe injuries she sustained.
