GENERAL TRIAS CITY (GenTri), Cavite – About 50 unwed couples say “I Do’s” at the “Kasalang Bayan” held at the Cavite Ballroom of the Bayleaf Cavite Hotel on June 20, 2022.

Outgoing Mayor and Congressman-elect Antonio Ferrer and incoming Mayor Luis “Jon Jon” Ferrer IV, represented by Vice Mayor-elect and city councilors, led the mass wedding rites.

“We decided to have a mass wedding… before the end of my term to take action on the backlog because such a program was stalled due to the entry of COVID-19 into the country, and then I know there are a lot of them, tradition. For example, they want to be the ‘June Bride’ – so we have scheduled this town wedding this June,” Mayor Ony Ferrer said in an interview.

Aside from the free wedding, each couple also received a free wedding cake and gifts from Mayor Ony, Cong. Jon-Jon, Vice-Mayor Morit, and SP (Sangguniang Panlungsod) members.

“Mamuhay lagi ng may pag-ibig at katapatan, tingin ko kapag ang mag-partner ay may ‘shortcoming’ eh magkaka-intindihan agad kayo,” Mayor Ferrer said.

Six couples also won a free overnight stay at the Bayleaf Cavite Hotel, while ten newlyweds were given special awards.
