POLICE Regional Office-Cordillera (PROCor) Director Brigadier General Ronald O. Lee on Wednesday reported the arrest of 56 wanted persons in the region following a week-long manhunt operation.

In a report to Philippine National Police Officer-in-Charge (PNP-OIC) Lt. Gen. Vicente D. Danao Jr., the Cordillera Police chief, said that the 56 lawbreakers were accounted for by his men from June 12 to 18 alone.

He said that the Baguio City Police Office caught the most number of the wanted suspects with 20, followed by the Benguet and Abra Police Provincial Offices (PPOs) with 13 arrests each, the Apayao PPO with seven, and the Kalinga PPO with three arrests.

Brig. Gen. Lee said that nine of the captured suspects were listed as among the most wanted persons (MWPs) in the region; five of them were included in the provincial level list; one in the municipal level list; and three on the station level list.

The official said the rank no. 2 MWP in Benguet was captured for violating Republic Act (RA) 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act.

Also, the no. 2 most wanted man in Kalinga province was collared for violation of the New Anti-Carnapping Law. In Apayao, a rank no. 2 MWP was arrested for rape charges with no bail.

The 3rd MWP for rape in Apayao also fell into police hands, and a rank no. 8 most wanted man in Abra province was captured for a murder case.

Brig. Gen. Lee said police also handcuffed the listed no. 1 most wanted man in Apayao for violating RA 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
