SIX members of a family in Pasacao, Camarines Sur who have gained notoriety for involvement in illegal drug trafficking in their neighborhood were arrested yesterday in an anti-narcotics raid conducted by the local police, Police Regional Office 5 director Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo said.

In a report to Philippine National Police chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos, the official said that members of the Raynera family led by their 74-year-old patriarch Jilly and matriarch Salud,73, were arrested inside their residence at Zone 4, Sta. Rosa del Sur in Pasacao municipality, which was raided by PRO5 agents around 6 a.m. yesterday.

Operatives of the Pasacao Municipal Police Station and the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office stormed the suspects’ place on the strength of a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by Judge Jose Agualada III of the Pasacao Municipal Circuit Trial Court.

Apart from the two senior citizens, also arrested were their sons Noel, 48; Nelson, 48; Angel, 46; and Valentin, 45.

Valentin was listed as a “high-value” and armed and dangerous drug target in Bicol.

“It was a whole family drug affair, wherein the members of the same family were monitored to be actually involved in the illegal sale of shabu,” said Estomo.

Recovered during the raid were nine heat-sealed plastic sachets containing the “poor man’s cocaine” and various drug paraphernalia.

All suspects are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and are being held at the Pasacao police lock-up facility.
