THE presence of illegal recruiters and people offering fake job offers worries government authorities.

Although the country is one of the world’s major manpower exporters, the Philippines finds it difficult to stop the nefarious activities of people who use social media in victimizing jobseekers.

But concerned government offices and agencies, including the Bureau of Immigration (BI), continue to work in unison to address the problems of illegal recruitment and online employment scams.

In fact, the immigration bureau has warned the public on the proliferation of fake job advertisements on social media platforms, particularly Facebook and TikTok.

Worried and alarmed, some quarters noted the surge of offers of high-paying jobs for even high school graduates.

To avoid falling victims to scams and other deceitful practices, authorities advised jobseekers, including women, to verify information from official sources.

Thus, concerned government officials, including law enforcement authorities, would do well to look deeper into these reported job offers on social media.

“Ang dapat ay mga tauhan na ng BI, police, National Bureau of Investigation, Department of Labor and Employment at Department of Migrant Workers ang magpanggap na aplikante para lang mahuli ang mga scammer,” the nurse added.

It’s a move in the right direction.
