Ecija cops collar suspect in vice mayor’s murder

CABIAO, Nueva Ecija – After over 12 years in hiding, the Nueva Ecija Police finally bagged this town’s most wanted person tagged as one of the suspects in the cold-blooded murder of former Vice Mayor Bonifacio “Boy Good” Clemente in this town, way back August of 2008.

In his report to Provincial Police director Col. Jess B. Mendez, police head Major Marlon Serna identified the arrested suspect as Antonio Torres, 62, alias Tony, construction worker, of Bgy. Entablado.

He is listed as no. 7 in the province’s list for most wanted persons.

Police collared him on the strength of an arrest warrant for murder without bail recommended issued by the Gapan City Regional Trial Court Branch 87 on December 4, 2009.

Serna said the suspect did not resist arrest during manhunt operation conducted in Bgy. Bagong Silang at 5:40 p.m.

Torres was one of four suspects who were indicted for murder in the August 14, 2008 killing of Clemente.

The former vice mayor was at the Jay Vulcanizing shop in Bgy. San Fernando Sur waiting for his vehicle to be fixed when he was peppered with bullets by two men riding a motorcycle.
