ECIJA coop launches ‘Plant A Leaf This Leap Year’ project
SAN ISIDRO, Nueva Ecija – The Nueva Ecija I Electric Cooperative Incorporated based in this town on Thursday launched a clean and green project dubbed “Plant A Leaf This Leap Year” in a bid to raise awareness among its member-consumers about the effects of climate change and its benefits to life such as cleaner air and green spaces.
NEECO 1 acting manager, engineer Loreto A. Marcelino led the activity at the planting area of Bgy. Calaba, this town on “leap year day,” February 29.
Marcelino was joined by NEECO 1 board of director, engineer Teresita Vega; Institutional Services Department manager Ma. Lotie Villamarin, and representatives of NEECO 1 Member-Consumer-Owners Organization during the tree-planting activity.
At least 30 fruit-bearing trees and 60 vegetable seedlings for papaya, tomato, and eggplant were planted in the backyard of the barangay hall.
Due to the activity’s success, the NEECO 1 management expressed its profound thanks to barangay captain Ariel C. Bundoc, Menerva O. Clemente, San Isidro municipal agriculturist, the environment and natural resources offices of Palayan City and San Isidro represented by Darla Rae D. Lopez.
Special thanks were also given to attorney Alejandro R. Abesamis, provincial administrator; and attorney Ferdinand R. Abesamis, executive ssistant V, Office of the Governor.
