DOH Calabarzon kicks off ‘9-Day-on-the-Wheels’ vax drive
GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite – The Department of Health (DOH) Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) launched the “9-Day-on-the-Wheels” vaccination drive on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Lancaster New City in Barangay Navarro here.
DOH Assistant Regional Director Leda M. Hernandez led the inoculation drive for residents of the locality through “Savaxx sa laban: Sasabak sa Paghihikayat Magpabakuna” where many residents were vaccinated in the area.
The said project aims to vaccinate the priority population, such as senior citizens, children aged five years and above, and those who need booster doses against COVID-19 and routine immunization for children aged 0-59 months and adults to protect them against vaccine-preventable diseases.
Mayor Luis “Jon Jon” Ferrer IV gave full support to the said program with Dr. Jonathan Luseco, the City Health Officer of the said city, assigning health care workers to participate in this vaccination drive.
The said project was executed by Galing Lancaster New City (LNC) Youth in collaboration with UNICEF Philippines, USAID, National Youth Commission, Y-PEER Pilipinas, HEPU CaLaBaRZon, City Health Office and Local Government of General Trias, General Trias Local Youth Development Office, General Trias Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), Lancaster Estates Homeowners Associations and on ground partners.
The said program provided the vaccine for Bacillus Calmette Guerin (BCG), Pentavalent vaccine, oral polio, deworming, pneumococcal vaccine, inactivated polio vaccine, and measles.
