DIRECTOR Adolf Alix, Jr. has two new movies. Currently streaming on Vivamax is the erotic drama, “Bugso”, starring Sid Lucero and Ayanna Misola as sex workers who want to forsake their current job and turn over a new leaf.

To be shown in theaters starting this Sunday is a mystery-suspense drama, “That Boy in the Dark”, with Joaquin Domagaso playing a blind boy who mysteriously sees the apparition of a girl crying for help.

The two films are poles apart from each other as “Bugso” is so sexy and meant for adult audiences only, while “That Boy in the Dark” is a wholesome thriller for general audiences.

“In directing, you should be able to do all types of films and not confine yourself on only one genre,” he says.”Dapat alam mo ang taste ng lahat ng klase ng audience.”

How sexy is “Bugso”? “What Vivamax subscribers have learned to expect, hindi sila mabibigo. Nandun lahat ng hinahanap nila. But more than the sexy scenes, relationship drama ito. It’s based on a real life story sa research namin. We met prostitutes that do role playing for whatever the customer wants. Threesome or sado-masochism, they’ll do it basta tama ang presyo. But at its core, the story is about prostitutes who want to leave the work they para sila mabagumbuhay.”

Didn’t he have difficulty convincing his cast to do all the steamy scenes they did in “Bugso”? “None, kasi si SId, he started with me in ‘Donsol’ so kabisado na namin ang isa’t isa. He knows what I ask for in a scene. Si Ayanna naman, ipinapaliwanag ko lang kung ano ang hinihingi ng eksena and she has no inhibitions in doing it. Sa climax ng movie, they have a very crucial scene na physically and emotionally draining as they’re both naked while being tortured by Allan Paule, but they did it like real pros.”

How about “That Boy in the Dark” where the three leads are all newcomers: Joaquin Domagoso, Aneeza Gutierrez and Kiko Ipapo? How was it directing them?

“We had a workshop so they understand their roles perfectly. What’s nice is that they listen. Very open sila at gusto talagang matuto, so they deliver. Happy naman ako sa performances nila, lalo na with Joaquin and Aneeza whose parents are also into acting. They all show a lot of promise and they’ll go far in this profession.”
