Crime gang member, 2 ex-rebels surrender in CL

Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – A former rebel and two members of the CPP-NPA surrendered to authorities Saturday in Central Luzon.

Gener Gatbonton, a high value target and suspected member of a crime group, submitted himself to joint operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Unit-Pampanga, 1st and 2nd PMFCs.

The arrested suspect is allegedly part of a crime gang involved in robbery and illegal drug trade in the towns of Mexico, Candaba, and Magalang in Pampanga as well as in nearby provinces.

In Pura, Tarlac, “Ka Rod”, former member of Alyansa ng Manggagawang Bukid ng Asyenda Luisita (AMBALA), withdrew support to CPP-NPA and surrendered to the Pura police under the KASIMBAYANAN program in Bgy. Poblacion 2, Pura, Tarlac.

He also turned over one homemade .38 revolver.

Meanwhile, personnel of 301st MC, RMFB3 together with 1st and 2nd PMFC, Bulacan PPO Balagtas MPS, San Rafael MPS, Malolos CPS, and 70th IB PA facilitated the voluntary surrender of “Ka Dolpo”, a former member of the New People’s Army (NPA) operating in Bulacan.

Ka Dolpo also turned over a .9mm pistol, one magazine and five . 9mm live bullets.

PRO3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo said all member agencies of the RTF-ELCAC 3 will continue the implementation of various programs devised by the PNP against insurgency, terrorism and criminality to achieve peace in the region.
