A 40-YEAR-OLD armed neighborhood “bully” who is wanted for a string of criminal charges on Wednesday met his match in operatives of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) who arrested him in Caloocan City after seeing him brandishing his unlicensed firearm.

PNP-CIDG Director Brigadier General Ronald O. Lee said that the suspect yielded a caliber .38 revolver when arrested by a member of the CIDG National Capital Region Field Unit (NCRFU) around 11:00 p.m. Wednesday along Samson Road, PNR Compound in Barangay 173, Caloocan City.

It turned out that the agent of the CIDG-NCRFU under Col. Hansel M. Marantan was on his way home when he noticed a man roaming the street with a gun tucked on his waistline.

The cop called for backup and later accosted the suspect, who turned out to be a member of the “Sigue-Sigue Commando” gang facing criminal charges for murder, attempted murder, and slight physical injuries before the Caloocan City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branches 232, 129 and 126.

“Napag-alaman din natin na ang suspek ay involved din sa mga kasong theft, robbery at violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 na dinidinig naman sa Caloocan RTC Branches 123, 126, at 120,” Lee said.

The suspect is now being held in a CIDG lock-up facility and is facing another case for violating RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013.

Lee congratulated his men who arrested the suspect even as he assured the public that the CIDG will remain as “frontliners” in maintaining peace and security in every street and community by ensuring that offenders like the “bully” will be put to jail.
