Christine welcomes new challenge
‘NIGHT Bird’ is the first movie of sex siren Christine Bermas for the New Year. She got much acclaim last year for her performances in “Relyebo” as the wrong wife of Sean de Guzman and in “Scorpio Nights 3” as the unfaithful wife of Mark Anthony Fernandez.
In “Night Bird”, she goes to a bar one night to unwind with her friends, Chloe Jenna and Alexa Ocampo. They are having a good time and they make friends with four handsome guys, played by Sid Lucero, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Aaron Villaflor and Felix Roco.
The men invited them to party and they have so much fun with intoxicating booze and drugs that they think their having the best time of their lives. But things go sour because the men turn out to have their own ulterior agenda for the girls.
Christine and her friends end up being drugged and brutally raped. She slowly recovers from her trauma and injuries and she resolves to avenge the injustice that she and her friends suffered in the hands of these four ruthless men. It’s good she has learned some fighting skills from her father and they come in handy in her quest for justice and revenge.
We ask Christine how different “Night Bird” is from the past movies she did, like “Relyebo” and “Scorpio Nights 3” in which she got very positive reviews.
“It’s very different kasi ‘Relyebo’ is serious drama while ‘Scorpio Nights 3’ is very sexy, but this one, for the first time, nag-action ako,” she says. “Dream come true ito for me, kasi noon ko pa gusto ko talaga mag-try ng action. Mahirap pala siya kasi very physical siya. But I welcomed the challenge kasi I really want to do different kinds of roles and movies.”
So how did she train for the role that required her to do action scenes?
“We trained for one week, how to do fight routines, how to hold a knife. And on the set, we have a coach para turuan kami sa aming fight scenes. Nakakapagod siya kasi nga naghihiganti ako rito doon sa mga lalaking humalay sa amin and may fight scenes ako with all of them. Madugo ito, lalo na sa last part ng movie. I’m happy to work with all the guys here kasi magkaaway kami sa movie, pero off cam ang babait nila sa amin. Inaalagaan nila talaga kami. Abangan nyo kasi very exciting ang buong movie.”
“Night Bird” is directed by Law Fajardo, who previously helmed Christine in “Scorpio Nights 3”. Watch Christine as she makes the men who molested them pay for their evil deed in “Night Bird”, streaming on Vivamax starting January 13, 2023.
