Chinese drug peddler falls in Cagayan sting

CAMP MARCELO A ADDURU, TUGUEGARAO CITY — The Cagayan police scored a breakthrough in their campaign against illegal drugs after a 38-year-old Chinese businessman classified as Regional High Value Individual was arrested the other day in an anti-illegal drug buy operation along Provincial Road, Edsa, Sta. Sta Ana, Cagayan.

B/Gen. Crizaldo Nieves, region 2 police director, identified the suspect as Lijun Cao, married, a native of Guangzhou, China but is currently residing in Visitation, Sta Ana, Cagayan who was caught in the act of selling six pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected “shabu” to a PNP operative who acted as poseur buyer.

“Search incidental to the lawful arrest of the suspect yielded to the confiscation of twenty-seven other pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing the same illegal drug with an approximate value of P75,000.00, one black Huawei Matte 30 cellphone and one white Toyota Rush car bearing plate number A8 P332,” said the report to Nieves.

The suspect and confiscated contraband were brought to Sta. Ana Police Station for proper booking procedures before the conduct of inquest proceeding for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Behind this successful police operation are the personnel of Provincial Intelligence Unit/Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Cagayan Police Provincial Office, Provincial Drug Enforcement Group Special Operation Unit 2, PDEA Batanes Police Office, PDEA Region 2 and Sta. Ana Police Station, Nieves said.
