WITH the decision to meet anew in the United States, Presidents Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Joe Biden are on track in boosting US-Philippine ties.

Scheduled at the White House next month, the bilateral meeting comes at a time when the South China Sea (SCS) controversy continues to worsen.

Earlier, two ranking American officials were in the country to discuss a wide range of topics with top Philippine government authorities.

They were US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.

The one-on-one meeting will be held on the sidelines of the trilateral summit among Marcos, Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumo Kishida.

Reports said the three world leaders would push a “shared vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific” amid China’s “provocative actions” in the SCS.
