AS part of the Bureau of Customs’ (BOC) commitment to promoting efficiency and transformation within government service, the Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport NAIA (BOC-NAIA), on June 28, 2022, successfully passed its first surveillance audit under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) Certification by the TUVSUD Philippines.

Initially starting with 21 ISO-certified processes, BOC-NAIA added six more processes to be ISO certified, bringing the Port’s total to 27 ISO-certified processes.

The added processes were focused on clearance of goods in other NAIA warehouses and express shipments and processing of special permit to load, and the issuance of access pass to stakeholders entering BOC-NAIA.

The audit also revealed favorable findings towards the Port in terms of initiatives, as the Port’s PGS Gold Trailblazer Award and I-Declare system were identified as programs with a positive impact on the public.

In her statement, BOC-NAIA District Collector Carmelita Talusan recognized the importance of having the Port ISO-certified.

Collector Talusan further explained that as a “gateway” to international travelers, BOC-NAIA is considered BOC’s “model” port to the international community, and having ISO-certified processes would ensure international recognition of cargo clearance and release, thus promoting “ease of doing business”.

The Port of NAIA continues to “solidify” its status as one of the nation’s premiere Ports which promotes exemplary performance and elevates transparent public service.
