Big push for divorce bill
A veteran solon has reaffirmed his resolute commitment to pushing for divorce legislation in the Philippines.
Former Speaker and Davao del Norte Representative Pantaleon “Bebot” Alvarez issued this statement in time for Father’s Day.
Acknowledging the heavy responsibility of being a father and the perception of fathers as providers, protectors, and pillars of the home, Alvarez recognized the emotional struggles that fathers often conceal beneath their strong demeanor.
He emphasized the importance of addressing the overlooked issue of battered husbands within marriages.
The lawmaker is pushing for reforms through the divorce bill which reflects his deep understanding of the far-reaching impact it can have on fathers and their families.
By advocating for divorce, he seeks to create an environment that fosters healthy co-parenting arrangements and allows fathers to thrive both personally and professionally, thus ensuring the financial well-being of their children.
“Father’s Day serves as a reminder to recognize the struggles fathers face and their need for support. It is our duty to support fathers trapped in toxic marriages, allowing them to break free and rebuild their lives,” he said.
