Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa attends FCCJ press conference

ON June 2, 2023, Japanese Foreign Minister HAYASHI Yoshimasa attended the Press Conference, organized by The Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan (FCCJ).

In his remarks, Minister HAYASHI highlighted the changing global situation throughout the past few years, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia’s aggression towards Ukraine. Amidst this backdrop and other complex national and regional security issues, the Foreign Minister also discussed the outcomes of Japan’s presidency and recent hosting of the G7 Hiroshima Summit. He briefed such critical topics such as nuclear disarmament, defending the rule of law and maintaining a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP), and the G7’s relevance to the upcoming G20 Summit in India. He also specifically mentioned Japan’s relationship with its ASEAN partners, in line with the 50th ASEAN-Japan Friendship Anniversary and its commemorative summit expected in December.
