IMUS CITY, Cavite – The local government here commemorated the 126th anniversary of the historic “Battle of Imus”, in Colonel Jose Tagle Street Poblacion 1-A on September 3, 2022.

Mayor Alex ‘AA’ Advincula, Councilor Jelyn Maliksi of the Committee on Tourism, and special guest former Senator Richard Gordon, together with City Administrator Jeff Purisima and Chief of Staff Tito Monzon, led the wreath-laying rites in commemoration of the 126th anniversary of “Siege of Imus” held at the Battle of Imus’ site, the Bridge of Isabel.

Gordon, Advincula, Maliksi, and City Tourism Officer Jun Paredes also visited the Imus Museum located inside the Camp Gen. Pantaleon Garcia compound, Cuartel of the Cavite Provincial Police Office (PPO), after the short program.

The program of offering flowers and paying tribute to historical places in the province, particularly in the City of Imus, has been postponed for two years due to the quarantine protocol upon the entry of the COVID-19 pandemic into the country.

The Battle of Imus was the first major battle of the Philippine revolution in the province of Cavite against the Spanish colonial government.

Col. Jose S. Tagle’s courage and leadership paved the way for Gen. Aguinaldo to win against the Spanish army’s Gen. Ernesto De Aguirre.

The victory in this battle brought “hope” to the rebels who had lost hope, and it also served as a sign of resurgence, saving the revolution from failure.
