Batoctoy takes oath as Imus police chief

GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite – Police Colonel Christopher Olazo, provincial director of Cavite Provincial Police Office (PPO), led the turnover ceremony between the outgoing and incoming police chief of Imus City together with the swearing-in and pinning of 551 promoted Cavite police officers during a formal program held at the General Trias Sports Park Oval, Barangay Santiago, General Trias City, Cavite on January 10, 2023.

Olazo officiated the turnover of command between outgoing Police Lieutenant Col. Jose Junar Alamo and incoming Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of Imus City Police Office, P/Lt. Col. Michael Batoctoy.

Alamo hangs his badge at the mandatory retirement age of 56, while Batoctoy, a former head of the Operation Department of Cavite PPO before he assumed the office of Imus Police Department.

Also, a mass oath-taking and donning of ranks of newly promoted police officers coming from Cavite PPO and seven cities and 16 municipalities of the province.

A total of 551 newly-promoted “police non-commissioned officer” (PNCO) includes 17 Police Chief Master Sergeant (PCMS) to Police Executive Master Sergeant (PEMS), 37 Police Senior Master Sergeant (PSMS) to Police Chief Master Sergeant, 39 Police Master Sergeant (PMS) to Police Senior Master Sergeant (PSMS), 38 Police Staff Sergeant to Police Master Sergeant, 213 Police Corporal to Police Staff Sergeant and 206 Patrolman to Police Corporal.

Olazo administered the pinning of ranks of the newly promoted PNCOs, witnessed by the families and relatives of the promotees.

“We move forward to the next journey, I strongly encourage everyone to render and maintain good service, [and] reputation, and always put god and family at the center of your career; this new career development or ranks mean the weight of our responsibility. The higher your rank, the bigger your responsibility. Let us remember that our position entails great responsibility and that we are here to serve and protect the people,” Olazo said in his speech.
