A ONE-YEAR-OLD baby died after falling into the river while playing in a basin of water inside their house Saturday before noon in Navotas City.

A report reaching the office of Navotas police chief P/Col Dexter Ollaging showed the incident occurred at around 11:20 a.m. inside the house on 69 Tagumpay St. Brgy. Tanza 1 Kaliwa. It was reported to the police past 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Investigation conducted by Navotas police homicide investigator P/Cpl Billy Godfrey Aparicio showed that the victim and her elder sister were taking a bath and playing in a basin of water when the baby accidentally fell into the river.

Elisha’s mother, Rachel Zamora, 25 was outside their house and washing their clothes when the incident happened.

She only noticed that her child was missing when she went inside to get some loads of laundry prompting her to seek assistance from neighbors.

After a thorough search, the baby was found underwater. Her mother rushed her to the Malabon City Hospital where the victim was declared dead on arrival by an attending physician.
