PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief General Benjamin C. Acorda Jr. on Friday commended the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) headed by Major Gen. Edgar Alan O. Okubo for a job well done in keeping peace and order in Metro Manila.

The top cop particularly commended officers and men of the NCRPO for their “unwavering dedication and hard work” in ensuring the safety and security of the community during recent major events such as the Holy Week observance, the Labor Day celebration, and the ongoing summer vacation period.

On Friday, the PNP chief was honored by the NCRPO as he made a command visit to the Metro Manila police headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City. Acorda used to be an NCRPO Deputy Regional Director for Administration.

In his speech, Acorda expressed his gratitude to the NCRPO personnel for their service to the country.

“Your unwavering commitment to your duties is highly commendable, and I want to express my gratitude for your service to our country,” he told the Metro Manila police personnel. He also emphasized the importance of a unified and collaborative approach towards nation-building, rallying behind his call for “Serbisyong Nagkakaisa.”

The PNP chief likewise outlined his “Five-Focused Agenda,” which will guide the NCRPO toward a more effective and efficient police force.

The agenda includes “aggressive and honest” law enforcement operations, personnel morale, and welfare, integrity enhancement, ICT development, and community engagement.

He also assured the NCRPO of his commitment to support them in their intensified efforts against criminality, drugs, insurgency, terrorism, and corruption through proactive policing and intelligence-driven operations.

Acorda also expressed his confidence in the collective efforts of the NCRPO during his talk to his men. “Together, we work towards a common goal of creating a safer, more secure, and progressive National Capital Region. By joining forces, we can achieve great things and build a better future for all,” he said.

The PNP chief, joined by other top PNP officials, also held a conference with the NRPO leadership wherein he underscored the importance of maintaining the “good image” of the NCRPO as the “show window” of the PNP.

He also recognized the hard work and sacrifices of the NCRPO personnel in securing the National Capital Region (NCR), particularly during major events.

He reiterated that as trustworthy law enforcers, all NCRPO men and women must always strive to be proud of their work.

The top cop also stressed the importance of community engagement which will foster a good relationship between the police and the public.

He highlighted that the police must show care and courtesy to the people they serve, and there should be proper supervision of commanders to ensure proper police operations.

Acorda also reminded everyone to uphold merit and fitness and to serve with no other agenda. He also directed them to strengthen counter-intelligence and to set limits to operating personnel as he reiterated his previous directives to avoid mistakes that can lead to more issues.

The top cop emphasized that one mistake will lead to another, hence it is important to follow all PNP rules and regulations.

However, he expressed his confidence that the NCRPO personnel will continue to serve with excellence and uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
