PHILIPPINE National Police chief General Benjamin C. Acorda Jr. on Wednesday lauded the achievements of the Police Security and Protection Group which marked its 32nd founding anniversary.

Headed by Gen. Acorda’s classmate from Philippine Military Academy ‘Sambisig’ Class of 1991, Brigadier Gen. Antonio C. Yarra, the PSPG was commended for its commitment to public safety and security.

The PSPG supports the Presidential Security Group in securing the President and his family and likewise provides security to members of Congress, the Diplomatic Corps and other government officials and VIPs in the country whose lives are under imminent threat.

With the theme “Serbisyong Nagkakaisa: Ang Pangkaligtasang Pananggalang Hatid ay Malasakit, Ugnayan, at Kapayapaan para sa Kaunlaran,” the unit presented awards to its outstanding personnel and special awardees led by Secretary Roman A. Felix, the Presidential Adviser on Police and Military Affairs who also used to be a former PSPG director.

Gen. Acorda also recognized the PSPG’s unwavering dedication to maintaining public safety and security as he mentioned the unit’s core values of courage, duty, and loyalty as well as its outstanding performance and professionalism.

“This is an opportune time to reiterate my call to all the members of the PNP: Serbisyong Nagkakaisa. By working together and harnessing the power of collaborative efforts, we can establish a formidable police presence and foster genuine engagement with our communities,” Gen. Acorda said.

“The challenges we face as an institution may be multifaceted, but I have no doubt that together, we can overcome them. By working together, we can indeed make a difference in the lives of our fellow Filipinos and make our communities safer and more secure,” the PNP chief added.

The PSPG’s commitment to providing public safety and security has been demonstrated over the past 32 years, through its tireless efforts in ensuring the safety of government officials, foreign dignitaries, VIPs, and other special guests of the country.
