A SUSPECTED Abu Sayyaf member tagged in the 2001 Golden Harvest Plantation kidnapping incident where two kidnap victims were beheaded was arrested in Culiat, Quezon City just recently.

National Bureau of Investigation Officer-In-Charge (OIC) Eric B. Distor identified the suspect as Albazir Abdulla a. k. a. “Abu Saif. ”

Based on the information received by the NBI-Counter Terrorism Division, a certain Abu Saif was seen in the National Capital Region. Also, a victim-witness identified the suspect from a photo line-up as an ASG member and one of his abductors.

The NBI-Counter Terrorism Division in coordination with counterparts from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), conducted surveillance operations to gather more information against the suspect.

On September 10, 2021, the NBI-CTD proceeded to Salam Compound, Brgy. Culiat, Quezon City and apprehended Abu Saif who was later identified as Albazir Abdulla. The arrested suspect was then brought to NBI Detention Facility.

According to Distor, suspect was the second member of the terrorist group to be arrested this year. On May 7, 2021, Wahab S. Jamal a.k.a. Ustadz Halipa was collared at Maharlika Village in Taguig.

In 2001, the ASG headed by their late leader Isnilon Hapilon raided the Golden Harvest Plantation in Brgy. Tairan, Lantawan, Basilan Province.

The terrorist group ransacked sari-sari stores and houses; and seized livestock, firearms and ammunition from the plantation security.

Also, the group burned the chapel and detained 14 plantation workers, two (2) of whom were beheaded by the terrorist group.

After four months of captivity, the victims were able to escape on separate occasions from their captors.
