THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has advised motorists to brace for heavy traffic in some areas in Quezon City during the weekend.

In its advisory, MMDA said manhole restoration will be undertaken along EDSA northbound before McDo Centris to Centris Station in Quezon City and along C5 Katipunan northbound from Shell to Countryside starting Friday before midnight.

To give way to the restoration, one lane beside the sidewalk will be occupied from 10 p.m. Friday and will be passable to vehicles by 5 a.m. on Monday, May 24.

Activities will cover the opening of three manholes and two entry/exit holes on the two said locations.

Meanwhile, excavation activities for Test Pit and Standard Penetration Test will be conducted on the sidewalk along West Avenue near corner EDSA eastbound in Quezon City from May 22 until July 8 in preparation for the concept design for the proposed guide way of the Metro Railway Transit line 7 project.

The MMDA is advising motorists to use alternate routes to avoid heavy traffic.
