7 nabbed in Ecija illegal tupada operations
STO. DOMINGO, Nueva Ecija — Seven suspected illegal gamblers engaged in illegal tupada operations were apprehended and their gambling paraphernalia on seized Sunday afternoon here.
In his report to provincial director Col. Jaime O. Santos, town police head Major Herbert Ocumen said the operation was conducted in Bgy. Malasin at 4:30 p.m. after intelligence operative Staff Sgt. Ruben Pascual Jr. got a phone call from a concerned citizen.
Nabbed were Norberto Velasquez, 31, of Bgy. Dolores, Raymond Costuna, 25, mechanic, of Bgy. San Miguel, Quezon, Nomer Dicion, 38, barber, Cris Alvin Apelo, 30, driver, Billy Joe Apelo, 22, Darwin Pulido, 27, and Guillermo Cristobal, 29, all of Bgy. Mambarao, this town.
Seized during the operation were two live and five dead fighting cocks, two gaffs, and bet money totaling P1,360.
Ocumen said the arrested suspects will be slapped with violations of Presidential DEcree 1602 as amended by Republic Act 9287 before the provincial prosecutor’s office in Cabanatuan City.
