LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte — Fishermen in the province were warned not to go fishing due to the threat of typhoon Betty while Col Julius Suriben, police director, directed the Bangui PNP to conduct the preemptive evacuation of seven families Saturday night .

Suriben said the families were brought to the Laoan Evacuation Center.

On orders of Gov. Matthew Marcos Manotoc, Suriben directed all chiefs of police (COPs) to conduct assessment of highly vulnerable areas and execute preemptive evacuations.

The Ilocos Norte police had also advised barangay officials in coastal and near rivers not to go fishing and swimming.

Suriben said said 2 PNP SAR Teams from INPPO & RFMB 1 were deployed in Bangui to serve as standby Rescuers for Dumalneg, Pagudpud and Bangui.

SAR Troops were also provided with at least three days ration each so they will not be a burden of LGUs or Barangays as they conduct their SRR operations, Suriben added.
