6 drivers test positive for shabu in Quezon

SIX drivers have tested positive for illegal drugs in Quezon, a ranking Land Transportation Office (LTO) reported.

Lawyer Clarence V. Guinto, Director of LTO-Law Enforcement Section, said members of the LTO-PNP-Highway Patrol Group, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and DrugCheck Phils. conducted the operation in Brgy. Calumanguin, Gumaca, Quezon and Lucena Grand Terminal on July 18-19, 2022.

On July 18, 2022, a quick random drug test was conducted at the Lucena Grand Terminal. Out of 112 drivers who underwent random drug testing, two were found positive for shabu use. Their drivers’ licenses were automatically confiscated.

On July 19, 2022, a checkpoint operation was conducted in accordance to Sec 5 of RA 10586, wherein 52 drivers were tested, of which two were found driving under the influence of drugs. Their drivers’ licenses were likewise confiscated and their trucks impounded.

The team proceeded to the Gumaca Terminal wherein two of 86 drivers tested positive for shabu.
