5 most wanted nabbed by PNP-CIDG

PHILIPPINE National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group director Brigadier General Romeo M. Caramat Jr. yesterday announced the arrest of five more most wanted persons .

In a report to PNP chief General Benjamin C. Acorda Jr., Caramat said one of the suspects identified as Roberto Bayabas was tracked down in his hiding place in Barangay Ilocanos Sur in San Fernando City in La Union last Wednesday morning by members of the CIDG Regional Field Unit 1 with the support of the Police Regional Office 1.

The 56-year old Bayabas is the subject of three separate criminal charges with no bail recommended. Judge Loreto Alog Jr. of the Lingayen, Pangasinan Regional Trial Court Branch 69 ordered the arrest of the accused for two counts of direct assault with murder on September 15, 2017.

On the other hand, Judge Walter Junia of the Lingayen RTC Branch 39 on November 8, 2021 ordered the arrest of the suspect for murder. Judge Rixon Garong of the Lingayen RTC Branch 37 issued another warrant of arrest for illegal possession of ammunition against the suspect on May 19, 2020.

Caramat described the suspect as the leader of the Bayabas Criminal Gang engaged in gun-for-hire and gunrunning activities in the 2nd district of Pangasinan and nearby La Union province.

The second suspect identified as Arjay Castillo,27, tagged as the 5th most wanted man in Maguindanao Norte and the no. 1 most wanted in Datu Odin Sinsuat municipality, was arrested at his hiding place in Bgy. Dalican on Wednesday afternoon.

Members of the CIDG Cotabato and Maguindanao Field Units and the local police arrested the suspect on the strength of a warrant for murder issued by Judge Annabelle Piang of the Cotabato City RTC Branch 13 on October 27, 2022. No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the suspect who gained notoriety for his involvement in illegal drug trafficking in Cotabato City and other parts of Maguindanao province.

Caramat said that the suspect has also been named as the principal accused in the murder of one Shariff Sinsuat in Poblacion Dalican in Datu Odin Sinsuat on May 22, 2022.

The three other suspects were all described as among Calabarzon region’s most wanted men until they were arrested on the same day, said the official.
