THOUSANDS of motorists expressed dismay over the suspension of operations at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) after its foreign contractor’s system bogged down nationwide.

The Land Transportation Management system (LTMS) is an online platform for all motoring regulatory services and processes needed from the LTO.

Unlike the LTO Online Services, the new system also caters to neophyte applicants who will apply for a driver’s license and vehicle registration for the first time.

A ranking official from the LTO confirmed that all transactions in the agency were suspended since Wednesday, January 5, including registration and licenses’ renewal.

The official immediately ask for understanding from the public for the inconvenience.

However, motorists were not convinced that operations should be suspended since the agency can use its Information Technology System while LTMS is still under repair.

Motorists also stressed that they have expected better service from the LTO because of the new system but they were disappointed.

“Sa panahon ngayon na halos online na ang lahat ng transaksyon sa gobyerno, nakakadismaya na ang inaasahan natin na episyente at mabilis na portal ay hindi pala kayang magbigay na magandang serbisyo,” pahayag ng isang motorista.
