2 illegal STL ‘bookies’ nabbed in Talavera
TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija – Two suspected bet collectors for the illegal operation of Small Town Lottery (STL) called “bookies” were nabbed in this town on Wednesday.
Town police head Lt. Col. Ranny G. Casilla said joint anti-illegal gambling operatives from this town and the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) conducted the operation in Barangay Dinarayat at 12 p.m. March 22, leading to the arrest of a bet supervisor or “kabo” and a bet collector “kubrador.”
The two arrested suspects, both of Bgy. La Torre also yielded illegal gambling paraphernalia, such as bet booklets, including cash amounting to P5,470.
“Allegedly bookies itong mga ito, nangungubra sila pero hindi nagreremit ng pataya,” said Casilla.
Meanwhile, Casilla said his men arrested a wanted person who has a pending bench warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act (RA) 8293 (Intellectual Property Code) issued by a Cabanatuan City Regional Trial Court with no bail recommended for his temporary liberty.
He said the suspect, a resident of Bgy. Esguerra, was collared in Bgy. Sampaloc at 8 a.m. Wednesday and is now locked up in detention here for proper disposition.
