WITHOUT doubt, Manila, acknowledged as the country’s premier city, is well-prepared for the possible surge of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) “Delta” variant cases.

Observers see some moves indicating the determination of Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso to meet the many needs of the people during trying times.

They noted, for instance, that Mayor Moreno continues to purchase and store enough supplies of oxygen tanks and anti-viral drugs for the city’s six district hospitals.

Aside from the six district hospitals, the city government also operates the ultra-modern 336-bed “Mega COVID-19 Hospital” at historic Rizal Park near the Manila Hotel.

Construction of the field hospital was completed in 42 days, ahead of its vowed 60-day deadline.

The workaholic and highly-articulate actor-turned-mayor said the city government has also thousands of supplies of the antiviral drugs Remdesivir and Tocilizumab.

“Kaya minabuti ng inyong lungsod na bumili ng mga ganitong uri ng gamot…because there are so many uncertainties in the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Mayor Isko.

According to the city mayor, the Department of Health has detected cases of the more transmissible COVID-19 “Delta” variant in various parts of the country.

Likewise, city government authorities have ordered state-of-the-art equipment for the intensive care units (ICUs) of the six district hospitals in Manila.

By modernizing the city’s health facilities and equipment, Yorme is on track meeting the mushrooming medical needs of the Filipino people, particularly his constituents.
