Van falls off SLEX, lands on houses; 2 hurt
A DRIVER and his passenger were hurt when their van fell off the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and landed on the side of row of houses Tuesday morning in Muntinlupa City.
Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy Biazon said Edwin Bersano, driver of the van and his passenger Herson Beloncio, both residents of Canlalay, Biñan, Laguna, were rushed to the Ospital ng Muntinlupa but were later discharged after treatment.
The accident that happened at around 6 a.m. along the portion of SLEX in Brgy. Putatan,
“Mabuti at walang taong nandun sa spot na yun at yung bahay ay hindi tinamaan ng malakas. Maaring nagiba yun kung sakali. May mga bata pa naman na nakatira dun,” Biazon said.
The mayor said he will talk to the tollway management regarding the danger posed by the current widening project of SLEX and will request them to change the orange plastic barriers to concrete barriers to prevent vehicles from falling into the residential area in case the driver lost control of his vehicle.
“Kung walang seatbelt, maaaring tumilapon ang naka-sakay o mas matitinding injuries ang nakuha nila,” Biazon said as he emphasized the importance of wearing of seatbelts since it reduced the chances of deaths and injuries from the road accidents.
